A written character that symbolizes the idea of a thing without indicating the sounds used to say it. e,g,. numerals and chinise characters.

A sequence of letters, words, or symbols marked on paper or other surface. It appeared around2700 BC.
Writing
A set of letters or symbols in a fixed order, it appeared around 1700 BC.

Johann Gutenburg invented an actual printing press in 1450.
