News Judgment
An element of news that refers to the geographic nearness of a given event to your place of publication or your readers
Proximity
The writing of a regional, national, or even international story to bring out the local angle
Localization
A method if obtaining many ideas in a short time
Brainstorming
A story about a coming event
Advance
An element of news that has to do with how new or current the event is
Timeliness
An element of news that refers to how well-known an individual is in the community, school, nation, or world
Prominence
An element of news that refers to the importance of the event. The greater the consequence, the greater the news value.
Consequence
A story that causes the reader to feel such emotions as sorrow, pity, or amazement
Human-interest story
An element of news that involves tension, surprise, and suspense, and arises with any good news topic-- sports, war, elections
Conflict
A sample of a population to be surveyed in which every member of the population has an equal possibility of being included in the survey sam
Random Sample
A question, posed at the beginning of a survey, designed to eliminate people who do not belong to the desired population
Filter question
