In what ways does the Blackfoot myth differ from Genesis with regard to gender?
In the Blackfoot myth both genders are equal but according to Genesis males were the greater gender.
How do we know about Sacajawea in history?
We know about her because because she helped Lewis and Clark on their journey and they wrote about her.
What is meant by the term "Indian captivity narrative"? What type of source is this?
It means white people that were captured by the Native Americans got away to tell their story. This is a written source.
When and why was the settlement of Jamestown established?
It was established in the early 1600. It was established in search of new land.
What is meant by the term "tobacco brides"?
They were a group of young women that were brought over to James town to get married and have kids with the farmers.
Why did Jamestown establishment succeed?
Because of the tobacco plantation which was a big business at the time.
What approximate age did Euro-American women marry in the colonies?
Age 22
What is Civil Death?
The legal status for married women, they became property of their husband.
What were the rights denied to MARRIED women?
Right to Vote, Right to sign a legal contract, and right to own property.

The second lag of the triangular trade group between Africa and the New World
Where was slavery legal in the colonial America and when did it change?
In all 13 states, it changed during the revolutionary war.
Why was the revolutionary war fought?
For the independence of the 13 colonies because of the unfair treatment, i.e. high taxes

Slaves in the north, boarder of Pennsylvania were free and south bottom boarder of Marilyn were not.

Mothers to serve the public by producing sons and teaching them virtues of reasoning, moderation and self control.

How did 'republican motherhood' affect women's status in the U.S?
It raised the social status but it did not affect their legal status.
Why was Lowell System seem practical at the time?
It was cheaper and the ideas was that making clothes was a women job.
What is the Lowell System?
To exclusively employ young rural farm girls as factory operatives.
What were the four solutions considered by the US Gov. in dealing with the Native Americans before 1800s?
Destroy them, Assimilate them, Protect them on their ancestral land Remove the relocating them.
What was the Indian Removal Act?
Gave the tribes eight years to pack up and move to the reserve.
How did most Native Americans react to the Indian Removal Act?
Most of them did not move.
What was the Trail of Tears?
The forced removal of the Native Americans on to the Oklahoma Reservation and 1/4th of them died on the journey.
How did life on the reservation affect Native American women?
Men were taught to farm, so women lost their high status for agriculture.
