ASCII
An eight bit binary code that represents symbolic, numeric and alphanumeric characters. It
is the most commonly used character set in PC’s.
Extended ASCII
An extension of the ASCII character set, it specfies the character values for 128-255
Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)-
This is a component of the CPU that handles arithmetic functions.
Binary Number System
system for representing the two states of a computer, which are on and off.
Expansion bus
connects external devices, such as keyboards, mouse, modem, and printer.
Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code (EBCDIC)-
This eight bit code defines 256 symbols and is used by IBM mainframe computers.
