What are the components in the efis system
Air barrier, aheasive, extruded polystyrene board (EPS),base coat,mesh,base coat, finish

what are the Different meshes?
Detail mesh 9 1/2"x12" used in backwrapping, and butterfly mesh 9x12" used on openings ex.
Doors,windows. and abuse mesh is butted together
Minimum hook around corners?
6" min. hook around all openings (EFIS)
Where does efis start?
Starts 8" up from the low point.
Where does stucco require an expansion joint?
12x12 panel will require and ejoint every 144ft sq.
What is a Substraight?
A surface in which the material is bonded to. Ex. plywood, gypsum drywall.

tar paper is inefficient. rots, decays, from humitity and dryness

vapour barrier shall have low water permability. while air barrier has low air permability

Role of the air barrier
To maintain complete separation between the inside and outside elements.

prevent air leakage, water/vapour leakage, rain water penetration.
How does moisture penetrade the building enclosure?
Vapour diffusion, air leakage.
Purpose of the Vapour barrier?
The vapour barrier's function is to retard the diffusion of moisture through the wall
assembly
Term for allowing water to pass through?
called 'Permeance' and 'Perm' for short.
Causes of air pressure difference?
Wind, Stack effect, HVAC Pressurization
What is Stack effect?
Cool air leaks in forcing warm air up the wall cavity. creates a positive pressure at the top.
What is HVAC Pressurization?
-/+ pressure in the building assembly.
What temperature is Self-Adheasive applied at?
0-38 degrees celcius. Peel n stick. or blueskin
What temperature is Torch applied bitumen applied at
-18 - 38 d celcius, and the softening point is 110deg C
Peel n stick overlaps?
2" overlap in the field and 3" on corners comes in 36" rolls.
Torch applied overlaps?
1" in the field and 3" on corners store standing up out of the heat. Thermofusable.
