Lead
A style of newswriting in which the main facts appear at the top of the article(the lead) & less-significant facts follow until the end.
Inverted Pyramid
A lead that provides the briefest possible summary of the major facts of a story in the first sentence.
Summary Lead
Who, What, When, Where, Why & How. These elements belong in nearly every newspaper story.
5 W's & the H
To use a lead that coaxes readers into a story by encouraging them to read further to see what the lead really means.
Tease
A quote that begins w. an unattributed quote,should be avoided because its unclear.This kind of lead is unclear & should usually be avoided.
Quote Lead
A lead that begins w. a question, generally to be avoided.This kind of lead gives litle info. & is generally to be avoided.
